More than 500 unique viewers!

Our video about Smart Keywording just crossed the 500 viewers line. The video is online for 3 months which means that every day we have 6 new people interested in our approach for making digital assets findable! The graph below also indicates that there is a rather linear growth rate of viewers since the beginning. We are curious about the future performance of the video and further videos on the Kreuzverweis channel.

Book on Semantic Media Management available!

A book on "Semantic Media Management: Process Innovation along the Process Chain of Media Companies using Semantic Technologies" by Ansgar Scherp is now available. It can be ordered online from Amazon and is available in German. A summary of the book is given below:

Summary: Media companies such as publishing houses, television broadcasters, radio stations, media archives, and libraries are facing a couple of challenges regarding the creation, indexing, and usage of media content. These challenges are a poor indexing of the media content, low visibility of media stocks in the Internet, limited search within the media stocks, and lack of process integration. Today's media management solutions cannot sufficiently address these challenges. The core reason for these problems is the solely use of textual metadata for indexing and using the media content. Annotations based on textual metadata are prone to, e.g., typographical errors, variant forms of spelling, and ambiguities.

To address these challenges and to alleviate the problems of the media companies, a semantic media management has been developed over the last years. Semantic media management is the management of media content by technologies of the Semantic Web. Such a formal metadata model provides support for a comprehensive and precise description of the semantics of digital media content. The use of this metadata model allows for technical innovations in the different processes of media management. In addition, it enables better integration of the processes.

Product renaming to keep things simple

Why things started to be confusing

Over the last couple of month we have been working hard to develop our product and business. To demonstrate our keywording technology we have build several demos. Doing so we came up with many labels:

Our core technology, a restful webservice that enables the integration of advanced keywording features to any kind of software, has been labeled Keyword Service, Keywording Webservice or Keywording as a Service.

To show how easy it is to integrate our keywording features into existing applications we have made two exemplary integrations. The first one, a  keywording and photo tagging plugin for Aperture, has been named Annotator for Aperture (shortname tag).

Our browser based keywording tool has been labeled Webtag. Read on to learn about our new product name.

We are now very happy to announce that Kreuzverweis has been accepted for the second stage (phase II) funding of this excellent program. Phase II funding enables us to efficiently continue with the development of our business and to focus on our main goal: Useful software services that make digital media assets findable!
